Patience and the Night Journey report

Surah Al-Anbiya groups Idris with Isma‘il and Dhul-Kifl, describing them as patient and admitted to Allah’s mercy. The passage supplies a second part of his portrait: steadfastness and righteousness, in addition to truthfulness and prophethood. These qualities are the basis for reflection even when an extended earthly chronology is unavailable.
In the Night Journey narration preserved in Sahih al-Bukhari, the Prophet ﷺ encounters Idris in the fourth heaven. This report is a separate source from Surah Maryam’s statement about his high station. The two should be read together without inventing a detailed mechanism or earthly itinerary between them.
The visual aid for Idris is therefore a source portrait, not a plotted biography. Remember three anchors: truthful prophet, patient servant, and the fourth-heaven encounter in the authenticated narration. None requires a guessed birthplace or a constructed account of his final days.
