Glad tidings in Ibrahim’s household

Visitors to Ibrahim’s household bring extraordinary glad tidings. His wife is told of Ishaq and, after him, Ya‘qub. She expresses surprise at bearing a child in old age with an elderly husband. The messengers direct her attention to Allah’s command and the mercy and blessings upon the household.
Surah As-Saffat also announces Ishaq as a prophet among the righteous and speaks of blessing upon him and Ibrahim. It adds that among their descendants are both those who do good and those who wrong themselves. A blessed family line is not presented as an automatic exemption from accountability.
The sources establish Ishaq’s place within the family and the promise of prophethood. They do not supply a long sequence of public events for his life. This collection therefore gives full attention to the actual glad tidings without attaching an unsourced childhood, military campaign, or precise burial site.
