Departure and the ship

Yunus is identified among the messengers. Surah As-Saffat describes his departure to a laden ship and his participation in casting lots, in which he is among those selected. The fish then swallows him while he is blameworthy.
Surah Al-Anbiya refers to his departure in anger and what he supposed about being constrained. Translations and commentary explain the phrase differently, so it should not be turned into a claim that a prophet believed Allah lacked power. The linked tafsir helps readers examine that wording with care.
The account is not merely an adventure at sea. Its movement is departure, trial, acknowledgment, and return to Allah. The illustrated sea provides an atmosphere for reflection; it does not depict Yunus, the unseen experience, or a reconstructed shipwreck. The next chapter follows the supplication that stands at the heart of the narrative.
