CHAPTER 01

Knowledge, succession, and gratitude

Illustrative environment; not a reconstruction of this episode
Conceptual artwork · No prophet is depicted

Sulayman and Dawud receive knowledge and give thanks. Sulayman succeeds Dawud and speaks of the knowledge and gifts granted to him, including understanding the speech of birds. The account identifies these as Allah’s favor, rather than personal achievements that remove dependence on Him.

His forces of jinn, people, and birds gather in ordered ranks. At a valley of ants, an ant warns the others to enter their dwellings so that they are not crushed unknowingly. Sulayman smiles at her speech and prays for help in gratitude, righteous action, and admission among Allah’s righteous servants.

The small creature is not an irrelevant flourish beside royal power. Her warning draws attention to the effects authority can have on the vulnerable. The response remembered in the Qur’an is gratitude and prayer. The site’s relationship and lesson graphics use that contrast without illustrating unseen beings or inventing the appearance of the army.
