CHAPTER 01

A long call among his people

Illustrative environment; not a reconstruction of this episode
Conceptual artwork · No prophet is depicted

Nuh is sent to warn his people and call them to worship Allah, be mindful of Him, and obey the messenger. Surah Nuh records sustained effort by night and day, in public and in private. His audience repeatedly resists, stopping their ears and persisting in arrogance. The account gives space to the difficulty of teaching people who refuse to listen.

Nuh urges them to seek forgiveness and points to signs in creation and the blessings Allah can grant. His appeal joins worship with awareness of the world around them. It is not reduced to a single dramatic warning about a flood.

Qur’an 29:14 says he remained among his people for a thousand years less fifty. The verse is a statement about the period among them, not a complete calculation of his lifetime. The account’s emphasis is his long persistence and the community’s continuing rejection, with the eventual outcome belonging to Allah.
