CHAPTER 05

After the waters recede

Illustrative environment; not a reconstruction of this episode
Conceptual artwork · No prophet is depicted

The Qur’an describes the earth swallowing the water, the sky withholding rain, and the waters subsiding. The ark rests on Al-Judi. Nuh is told to descend with peace and blessings upon him and communities connected with those aboard. The end of the flood opens a new stage of human responsibility, not an end to moral testing.

The account is presented to the Prophet ﷺ as news of the unseen and closes with an instruction to patience. Its purpose reaches beyond reconstructing an ancient disaster: it strengthens the messenger and teaches that the ultimate outcome belongs to those mindful of Allah.

Surah At-Tahrim also refers to Nuh’s wife as an example of a relationship that did not secure salvation. The passage concerns betrayal of faith, not an allegation of sexual misconduct. Together, these sources keep Nuh’s message, his household trials, and the rescue of believers in view. Exact flood extent and archaeological identifications require evidence beyond the account and are not assumed here.
