Raising the House and praying for the future

Ibrahim is tested with commands that he fulfills and is appointed as a leader. When he asks about his descendants, the response excludes wrongdoers from the covenant. Ancestry alone therefore does not guarantee moral standing. The account of leadership is followed by the Sacred House as a place of return and security.
Ibrahim and Isma‘il raise the foundations and ask Allah to accept their work. Their supplications include submission for themselves and their descendants, instruction in the rites, acceptance of repentance, and a messenger who will recite revelation, teach, and purify. The physical building is accompanied by a concern for faithful life across generations.
Surah Al-Hajj also records Ibrahim’s charge concerning the House and the proclamation of pilgrimage. These passages connect the family story with a continuing practice of worship. A source-based map can orient readers to Makkah; the essential visual relationship is father and son working and praying together, without depicting either prophet.
