A community tested after rescue

The Children of Israel receive provision and other blessings, yet the Qur’an describes continuing disputes and disobedience. In one account, Musa reminds them of Allah’s favors and calls them to enter the land assigned to them. They fear its powerful inhabitants. Two men urge trust and entry, but the people refuse and tell Musa to go with his Lord while they remain behind.
The result is a period of wandering. The episode illustrates that rescue from external oppression does not automatically resolve internal fear or resistance. Musa’s mission includes teaching people how to live faithfully after their escape.
Surah Al-Baqarah also recounts the command concerning a cow, repeated questions that make the task more difficult, and its relation to a killing. These are distinct episodes, not one fabricated scene. Together they show the challenges of guiding a community whose response to instruction is often hesitation, evasion, or objection.
