CHAPTER 01

A dream and a father’s care

Illustrative environment; not a reconstruction of this episode
Conceptual artwork · No prophet is depicted

Surah Yusuf opens by describing the account as part of revelation, then places the reader within a family. Yusuf tells his father of a dream involving eleven stars, the sun, and the moon prostrating to him. Ya‘qub advises him not to tell his brothers, fearing that they may plot against him, and reminds him of Satan’s hostility toward humanity.

Ya‘qub also speaks of Allah choosing Yusuf, teaching him the interpretation of events, and completing His favor upon him and the family of Ya‘qub, as upon Ibrahim and Ishaq before. The dream is not resolved immediately; its meaning will become visible through the unfolding story.

This beginning gives readers three anchors to retain: a child shares something significant, a father responds with protective wisdom, and a promised favor lies ahead. Later hardship should be read against this opening without pretending the characters already know every stage of the future.
