Makkah, orphanhood, and early work

Muḥammad ﷺ grows up in the setting of Makkah and the Quraysh. The familiar Seerah chronology places his birth around the Year of the Elephant and describes the care of ‘Abd al-Muttalib and then Abu Talib after the loss of his parents. Those chronological and family details belong to transmitted biography, rather than to a date stated in the Qur’an.
Surah Ad-Duha recalls Allah’s care for him as an orphan and gives commands concerning care for the orphan and the petitioner, and acknowledgment of the Lord’s blessings. An authenticated narration records that he tended sheep for the people of Makkah. Another associates Monday with his birth and the sending of revelation.
The chapter begins with vulnerability and ordinary work, not only later public authority. Dates in this collection use the conventional Seerah sequence while distinguishing exact textual evidence from reconstructed chronology. Familiarity with a traditional detail does not turn it into the wording of a verse or hadith.
