Return to Makkah

The return to Makkah, conventionally placed in 8 AH, follows the breakdown of the treaty arrangements in the transmitted Seerah sequence. The authenticated report records the Prophet ﷺ entering and removing idols around the Ka‘bah while reciting words concerning the coming of truth and disappearance of falsehood.
The event changes the public religious life of the city from which the community had migrated. The same place that had seen opposition and persecution becomes a setting for worship of Allah alone. Popular speeches associated with the conquest should be assessed individually rather than treated as automatically authenticated by familiarity.
Surah An-Nasr connects victory and people entering the religion with glorification of Allah and seeking forgiveness. The chapter therefore closes with dependence and repentance rather than a self-sufficient celebration of power. The artwork remains a conceptual desert setting, not a claim to recreate the Ka‘bah or streets of the conquest.
